Ford Adding Cash Back to 0% Financing on 2010s

Thursday, July 8th, 2010
Fordincentives

Ford’s 2011s are rolling into dealer showrooms and that means the 2010s are going to get some better incentives to make room for the new arrivals. Ford is offering 0% financing plus $1,000 cash back on many 2010 models, including the Mustang and Focus. While the promotion on Ford’s consumer website also features the 2010 Taurus in this deal, it didn’t show up in all of the regions we searched. In Florida, for example, the 2010 Taurus' incentive is 0% financing for 36 months plus $500 cash back, but in Southern California you could get the full $1,000 on top of 0% financing for 36 months.

Make sure you research the incentives on Ford’s site before heading to a dealer. The deals are good through Sept. 7; the Transit Connect, hybrids, Taurus SE, Edge SE AWD and Mustang Shelby GT500 are excluded from these incentives.

Ford Announces Three More Turbo Engines

Monday, April 12th, 2010

2011FordEdge

Ford has rolled out only one of its EcoBoost turbo engines — a 3.5-liter V-6 found in the Taurus, Flex and Lincoln MKS  and MKT — but the company says it is going all-in on the technology and will add three more globally by the end of 2010.

In the U.S., we’ll see a 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder in the upcoming Ford Explorer — as we learned in January — and the 2011 Ford Edge, which goes on sale this summer, although the EcoBoost might not be available at launch. There was no mention of the Lincoln MKX getting the same engine.

A 3.5-liter turbocharged V-6 engine will also find its way into rear-wheel-drive-equipped F-150s.

European shoppers will get to pick a 1.6-liter turbocharged four-cylinder in the C-Max small van.

All three engines promise power and performance akin to larger engines while returning mileage of smaller ones. However, the current EcoBoost applications carry a higher price tag than base models, like engine upgrades of old. Except now, you’re not upgrading to a V-6 or a V-8, you’re upgrading to a turbocharged four or six.

Ford Unveils Taurus Police Interceptor

Ford just unveiled its replacement for the aging Crown Victoria Police Interceptor, which has been a law enforcement staple for decades. Taking the Crown Vic’s place in your rearview mirror will be what we know as the 2010 Ford Taurus — a particularly awesome version of the Taurus in police spec, if you ask us.

Police departments across the country won’t be piloting just any Taurus off dealership lots. Ford says approximately 90 percent of the interior has been redesigned for police use. Some features you won’t find in a regular Taurus that your local police department will have include:
  • Anti-stab plates built into the front seatbacks
  • Column-mounted gear selector
  • Heavy-duty brakes
  • Heavy-duty alternator
  • Larger radiator and purpose-built cooling system
  • Vented wheels for brake system cooling
  • Back door hinges that open an additional 10 degrees
  • Vinyl rear seats
Like the Taurus you currently see on the road, the interceptor version will feature a 263-hp V-6 engine or a high-output 365-hp, twin-turbocharged EcoBoost V-6 with all-wheel drive.

You can expect to see the Taurus Interceptor patrolling the streets in late 2011 when Crown Victoria production is scheduled to end.
